The Spirit of America is the first of the newly re-engineered MackinawWatercraft Grand Model canoes.  Spirit of America was a special commission for a Michigan family that wished a family boat that could be treasured and passesd down through the generations.  She is 16' on the waterline and 36' in the beam with a tumblehome design.  She has lots of initial stability and plenty of creature comforts to go with eye poping features.  Her bow deck features Mackinaw Watercraft designer Allen Deming's rendition of the Betsy Ross flag.  Using some very rare curly Redwood and Basswood stripes along with inlaid Birds eye Maple veneer stars in a field of dyed blue Basswood he has created a truly unique piece.  The port and starboard sides sport fields of white Basswood and inlaid Mahogany stars.  Quarter sawn Red Oak gunnels, seat frames and thwart are stunning additions.  On the rear deck is another Deming creation, an inlaid Bald Eagle soars over mountains and plains.  Mackinaw Watercraft specializes in unique one off creations that not only beautiful but a dream to paddle.
